Default New Log On Screen

My home computer has suddenly developed an additional Microsoft log-on
screen when it's 1st fired up. Any suggestions on how to get rid of it would
be appreciated.

Exactly what do you mean by "an additional Microsoft log-on screen"?
What does it look like and what does it say?

In particular, what do mean by "additional"? What is the other log-on
screen to which you are comparing it?

But if you are simply asking about being required to log on, when it
used to do it automatically, go to Start | Run, type "control
userpasswords2" Select the account you want to logon to automatically.
Then uncheck the box "Users must enter a user name and password to use
this computer."

Or do the same thing with TweakUI.

Default New Log On Screen

Thanks Ken,
I unticked the box but changing the account from 'Administrator' to 'Home'
locked me out of the computer. Microsoft Tech. Support got me out of this
predicament after an hour and a half of combined time on hold and going
though a gentleman of Indian? decent where we could not understand each
others accents. However was passed on to Debra in Malaysia who had a good
grasp of the English language and in 'safe' mode cured the problem for a fee
of Aus$.80.00.
To get back to your question I did not have a log on screen originally as my
set would just open up on my desktop and suddenly I developed a Microsoft
Home XP log on window which I had to click onto to get to my desktop. Now
all is back to normal.
Regards
Roy.

That's almost certainly because you got an additional user, asp.net,
automatically added when you installed a .net framework

Now
all is back to normal.
