Task Monitor
Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up Windows Task Monitor
click on View menu, Select Columns check the box CPU (and CPU Time if you like) click OK Now, go to the Processes tab, you will see CPU and other columns you checked above. Hope this helps, Lilla "Paul Hunter" wrote in message .com... "Suz McClure" wrote in message .. . XP task manager does this.. XP dynamically adjusts resources depending upon what is being askewd of it.. you would be better advised to forget what XP is doing in the background and just get on with using your computer.. That's nice and everything, but when you've got a process in the background killing you, knowing what that process is would be an awfully nice thing. And, as far as I can see, XP task manager does not list performance per task, only per system. If that isn't true, I would be greatful if I were enlightened. "Paul Hunter" wrote in message .com... I would like to find an application (preferrably free :-) ) that looks at not just the tasks that are running but the resources - most notably CPU usage - that are being held by each task. I was using Another Task Manager, which I was very happy with. Unfortunately, it only supports the Windows 95 lineage, not NT, and, therefore, not XP. I would appreciate any suggestions. Paul |
