Can not install printer

I have a Lexmark X73 all-in-one printer. When I plug it
into the usb port, I get a little message in the system
try saying Unkown Device.I dont understand, I have put
Windows XP on my pc many of times with it working but now
it wont recognize my printer. I tried installing the
drivers and it didnt work. I inserted the disc for the
lexmark setup and it was still coming up Unknown Device.

You MUST install the software before connecting the All in One Unit to the
PC.

Since you did it all in reverse, disconnect the printer from the PC and
follow Bruce Sanderson's instructions to COMPLETELY uninstall ALL printer
drivers. Pay particular attention to his special section on Lexmark
printers.

After the cleanup, reboot the PC. Do NOT reconnect the printer. Download a
new set of drivers from the Lexmark website at www.lexmark.com. Install the
software. Do NOT reconnect the printer UNTIL the software TELLS you to do
so.
