AOL / MSN Explorer won't connect or drops connections because of built in firewall
Only when I use MSN Explorer or AOL (but not firefox) I am getting all sorts
of connection errors or connections dropped when I am logged in; I am on a broadband connection and my firefox browser works fine (both MSN Explorer and AOL are enabled in the firewall as exceptions). I've uninstalled and reinstalled this software many times. Can this be fixed (this is happening after a clean reinstall of windows xp with sp 2) -- Woodzy http://www.rtdos.com/forum |

AOL / MSN Explorer won't connect or drops connections because of built in firewall
You're question isn't completely clear as to what is happening, to which
item and when. First, AOL is not compatible with the Windows XP firewall, hence if enabled you will have problems with an AOL connection. Second, in SP2, the XP Firewall is enabled by default. If you have a separate firewall and did not have this issue prior to installing SP2, open Control Panel, open the firewall and disable the XP Firewall, reboot and see if you still have the issue. -- Michael Solomon MS-MVP Windows Shell/User Backup is a PC User's Best Friend DTS-L.Org: http://www.dts-l.org/ "(ProteanThread)" wrote in message news:1109784224.b090ad8c95ef8cf96e7b08f7d9231153@t eranews... Michael, in addition to MSN I use AOL and the SP2 firewall and have no
problems. -- Colin Barnhorst [MVP Windows - Virtual Machine] (Reply to the group only unless otherwise requested) "Michael Solomon (MS-MVP)" wrote in message ... AOL / MSN Explorer won't connect or drops connections because of built in firewall
Well, it's possible AOL fixed the issue with an update or updated version of
their software but there had been numerous issues with AOL. Of course, if you are connecting natively to AOL and not using their software, that might be the reason as well. -- Michael Solomon MS-MVP Windows Shell/User Backup is a PC User's Best Friend DTS-L.Org: http://www.dts-l.org/ "Colin Barnhorst" wrote in message ... I don't have a tablet PC so I don't really need this update. |
