Clock showing odd characters in time after todays update
Just did the cumulative update to this month and after the reboot my
clock in the tray is showing a square box where the colon should be. 4:34 4 sq 34 and it looks like it's 4034. I rebooted but not fix. Now I have to admit, I have a widget on the screen that has a very large display (40pt) date/time. I use that and don't/can't see the tool tray. So it may have been like this before. Anyway, just curious if anyone else is seeing this. My wifes laptop is fine, so I'm not sure it was the update. Al |

Rene Found it! https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...83786c8?page=5 This is the last page of a long thread. Bottom of the page is a .reg file (text of it) that resets all the associations for the SegoeUI Regular font. In my PC, quite a few of the Segoe UI fonts were not linked to a ttf file: Here is my export before I imported the fix, you can see that several of the fonts have a name but no ttf font. ="" That seemed to be the issue. That font (per the forum post) seems to have the right character set to present a different colon in the clock that is up a bit higher off the baseline than a normal colon, making the clock look better. Go to "Control Panel Region" or to "Control Panel Clock and Region Region" and check if the "Short time" setting also has odd characters in it. If it does, try picking a better choice from the drop-down pick-list. If there is no better choice in the drop-down pick-list, and you want to edit the "Short time" setting, then * Click on "Additional settings..." * Then select the "Time" tab. B. Another possibility is that the tray clock really is trying to display a colon, but the font is screwed up. (If this is a problem with the font cache, it is possible to reset the font cache.) -- Kind regards Ralph |
