irritating pop up.....cant get rid of it!

hi
i have a very irritating dialer pop up about every 5 seconds
it say that it requires me to log on the net because the program
(bounceme.net) want information
is it a virus?
how do i get rid of it?
I've tried surfsecret and ad remover but still cant rectify the problem

its probably in yours startup menu what you can do is go to start --- run
then type msconfig and press enter when the configuration utility comes up
go to startup and look for and entry similar to that popup that bothering
you then simply uncheck it and bingo your done if you cant seem to figure
out which one it is uncheck each one one at a time untill you get rid of it

It is mostlikely spyware, but check for a virus also:
Run an updated virus scan.
Run Disk Cleanup checking all boxes except "Compress old files"
Check this link:

Go to lavasoftusa.com and download Adaware 6.0 (free). This will find and
delete spyware. Also, get a good firewall (ZoneAlarm).

It sounds to me like you are using dial up instead of cable or dsl.
Here are three methods, the first of which is dangerous but very useful. The
last method is a pain.

1) Go to your registry (Start-Run- and then type "regedit" and hit enter)
and do a search for "bounce." Delete all references to it.

2) Do an explorer search for "bounce," being sure to set the search
parameters to search hidden folders. Delete all references to "bounce."

3) Do a system restore to the last time you remember not having this
problem.

4) Reformat the hard drive if you have alot of experience in doing such
things. Then increase your security levels in Internet Explorer.

Because you got into this problem in the first place though, I do not think
you should be messing with the registry or reformatting.

i have tried ad-ware from lavasoft and so much more but it still isnt
working
i've virus scan my pc 2!

You ran Ad-Aware and you made sure it was updated just before you ran
it?
Current version is 6 with reference file140 19.05.2003
