Default Five reasons to upgrade to Windows 10

Hello! :-)

With time running out for Windows 7 and 8 users to upgrade to Windows 10
for free, here are five arguments for making the jump.

With less than one month to go before Microsoft ends its current offer
for Windows 7 and 8 users to upgrade to Windows 10 for free, you may be
wondering whether it's time to make the switch.

While you may be wary of Windows 10's less celebrated features, there
are arguments for choosing Windows 10. Here are five of the most compelling.

You make no sense. In another post minutes later, you *STALK*
Microsoft! So why are you spamming in this one to get people to
use software you apparently DESPISE.

Sometimes you need to talk about both sides of the coin, to be fair.

Absolutely right, Man-wai Chang! :-)

If 'Felix Kaat' - whomever that may be - was a little bit brighter he'd
be aware that I am *USING* Windows 10 to make my posts!

Actually, hackers who are stuck in Windows prefer Windows XP because it
supports raw socket - which makes packet crafting much easier. Vista and
newer no longer have that capability.

This question has probably already been answered over-and-over again,
but my kneejerk reaction is "What's in it for Microsoft?"..... and the
corollary thought that whatever it is, it can't be good for the user.

The face login sure is interesting, but I doubt its accuracy and
reliability. May need to retake your face if the camera has been replaced
with different model - or if you lost a fight.

Whatever.

4. It's free

Not really. What about those ads?

5. Better access to data

Yes, user data to Microsoft.

Stalk both sides of the coin, you mean. Except in this case,
both sides of the coin ARE Microsoft. He's too thick to see it.

http://www.techrepublic.com/article/...to-windows-10/

1. New Features

Not having a Webcam, I would not be using my face to login. Even if I
had a Webcam, it would normally be disabled and in a bag to prevent some
hacker from watching me.

I am dedicated to the SeaMonkey browser. I can spoof Edge Edge/14.14342
very easily via the PrefBar extension.

Since I normally sit more than an arm's length from my monitor, digital
pens is not something I would use.

With Microsoft's history of ongoing security vulnerabilities, I insist
on using a non-Microsoft anti-mailware application.

I do not do gaming.

2. Future proof for longer

I am 75 years old. How much longer will I be using a PC? In any case,
I must insist on controlling updates to anything on my PC. I do not
want a time-critical task (e.g., a banking transaction that must be
completed before the bank's business day ends) without bandwidth or CPU
capacity being diverted to yet another Windows update.

3. The return of the Start Menu and a better desktop

I have installed Classic Shell in my Windows 7. My Start menu and
desktop look very much as they did with Windows XP.

4. It's free

Having already paid for Windows 7, keeping Windows 7 will be free from
now on.

5. Better access to data

I do not use "the cloud". Why? A number of innocent users lost their
cloud data when the government shut down Megaupload.

In any case, I do not need the distractions of Live Tiles.

Etc, etc.

Is it true that Donald Trump refuses to reveal his
income tax returns because he uses so many questionable
loopholes that he pays no taxes? See
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/06/15/new-evidence-donald-trump-didn-t-pay-taxes.html.
Even if those
loopholes are legal, Trump might be too embarrassed to
admit he pays no taxes.

I almost forgot (easy when you are 75): I have applications that are
old, very old. They still perform the tasks I want preformed. I have
been informed that they cannot be installed and run in Windows 10. This
is a major problem since the developers of those applications are no
longer in business to provide new versions compatible with Windows 10.
