same problem - video works fine!
did you solve?

-----Original Message-----
I have run the audio wizard and my mic and phones work

fine, but when I try to start an audio conversation, MSN
Messanger freezes and the CPU runs at 100%. I am running
XP Home.

Any help would be appreciated.

try unintall & re-install messenger . MSN 6.1 http://messenger.msn.com .Also , you need to clear your temporary files, browser history & SSL cache periodically . If you're behind a firewall or using NAT(router/hub) ports needs to be configured.
ports - 1863 tcp for chat
- 5004-65535 udp for audio
- 6891-6900 for files transfers
