Strange Portuguese MSN Live Messenger squatting on my desktop
I have a Portuguese (I think) version of Windows Live Msgr that I can't get
rid of. It lives in a small desktop icon that resembles one of those fricking widgets. It functions differently from my regular Messenger application, which I open from the popup list of applications just to the right of the START button. This thing appears as a small rectangle right above the START button, labeled "msnmsnr." When I click the "x" to close it, nothing happens. But when I double click the name, it opens a standard Messenger window -- except it's in PORTUGUESE!!! When I try to click on any of the menus in the window -- where normally it would say "File," etc. -- I get a prompt that says "msn messenger nao pode ser movido!" -- yes, the exclamation point is part of the message in the prompt. Clicking the "x" also does nothing when the full window is open, though I CAN minimize it -- back into its tiny rectangular desktop icon. Someone suggested using a utility called "Remove Messenger" -- he http://uninstall-windows-messenger.qarchive.org/ -- which works, except it removes the REGULAR messenger and leaves this litle bugger still squatting down near my START button grinning at me. Also, whenever I Alt + tab between applications, the Messenger icon is there even when the applications isn't open. Anyone have any guidance? Thanks in advance. |
