Having used every browser known to man, I am most impressed with the new Edge especially with both M$ and Chrome addons. Blazing fast for me. -- Jim S |

But the browser makers have been moving toward a very insidious lack of choice -- making it nearly impossible to *not* search from the browser. What you can do is to just make a shortcut/bookmark for your favorite search engine and go there. If you use Google you can make it go to the advanced page: http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en&num=30 I always remove all engines from the list except duckduckgo. Increasingly they won't allow removing all. Then I adjust settings, like no search suggestions. But it's still hard to be sure that one has shut off the function of calling a search engine by typing. I suppose the only way to be sure would be to remove all but Bing, then put Bing in your HOSTS file. |
