From NewEgg: Win7 Home Premium ============= Full version: Retail $200 (32 *and* 64 bit DVD) OEM $100 (32 bit DVD) OEM $100 (64 bit DVD) Upgrade version: Retail $199 (32 *and* 64 bit DVD) Win7 Professional =============== Full version: Retail $290 (32 *and* 64 bit DVD) OEM $135 (32 bit DVD) OEM $135 (64 bit DVD) Upgrade version: Retail $185 (32 *and* 64 bit DVD) - (out of stock) Remember...for Win8 a retail full version (with both 32 bit/64 bit DVDs) no longer exists. That product was discontinued/combined with Personal Use for System Builders and only includes a 32 *or* 64 bit DVD - which resellers are marketing as OEM full version...when in fact the only OEM version (per licensing) is pre-installed on a pc (e.g. Dell, HP, etc.) -- ....winston msft mvp |

It's unclear what you bought (or have) - Have you link for what you bought ? There are three types of Windows 8 media - unlike prior o/s there is no grace period for activation. In Windows 8 activation occurs during installation. The three types of media available for either Windows 8 or Windows 8 Professional a 1. Upgrade - download from MSFT or purchase from retail outlet 2. Personal Use for System Builders - purchase from a retail outlet (not available from MSFT) 3. OEM - Pre-installed on an pc by the pc manufacturer provider (e.g. Dell, HP, or other OEM partner) Item 1 and 2 come with a valid product key. Item 3 product keys are encrypted in the bios. Which one do you have ? For information on purchasing a product key if you already have valid media contact MSFT.
