Default outlook mail app no send receive button?

Sometime you wish to send your self an email for testing, but where is
the send receive button or a refresh button that invokes send/receive in
windows 8's outlook app?

The Windows 8 Mail app isn't an Outlook app.
The 'Send' button is in the top right corner of the message composition window (looks like an envelope)

Thanks for the reply but the app I'm talking about has a tile on the
start screen named outlook (see he

It is being used for email but we are struggling to get our head around
the app way of doing things.

You can see from the page I linked that there is a refresh icon just
above and to the right of 'folders'. Unfortunately click this achieved
nothing. Eventually our 'sent to self' emails arrived but quite a few

Outlook.com is web browser based client that stores and access all content online.
http://outlook.com
(other links/urls to get to the same location are hotmail.com and mail.live.com - i.e. they all go to the same place by use of a
browser)

Outlook.com is not an app (in any o/s)
- it is a graphical based user interface (GUI) web based email client that operates within a browser (e.g. Internet Explorer)

Example email created in the web based Outlook.com email client

The web based client (Outlook.com) does not have a 'Receive' function. It automatically polls for incoming messages (some messages
may arrive sooner than later)

Thanks for the info, seems like outlook.com was a bad choice for email.
