Scott:
To defrag your HD, open my computer, right click it chose the tab tools,
there you will find defrag.
I hope this helps. Please reply to this string, so we know how it goes.

Open Windows Explorer. Right click on your C drive and select Properties.
Go to the Tools tab and click Defragment Now...

'scandisk' has been dropped on XP, it has been replaced by 'chkdsk'.
To view the help-file for 'chkdsk', goto command prompt and type: chkdsk
/?

Alternately to using a command prompt, you can select 'Properties' for the
drive that your concerned with, select 'Tools' tab.
Thiere you will find both a disc checker (Error-checking.) with a few
options, and also a defrag command (Defragmentation).
Hope this help, best wishes Patrick
