Default Lost wireless network

My apt. complex has an unsecured wireless signal for the residents use.

I can no longer pick it up, yet others don't have any problem.

I pick up plenty of other nearby signals.

Any ideas on what to check for ?

I saw a cable coming out of the wireless transmitter with a connection on the end.

Can an extension be added to boost the receivability ?

Thanks.

Did the connector used to have an antenna on the end ? :-)

It's unlikely an entire apartment building could be serviced
with one antenna. If they have a repeater device of some sort
per apartment unit, perhaps that's what you're looking at. I
would check to see if it has been disturbed, or something
disconnected from it.

I bet the superintendent knows how the system works.

Reposition the computer or whatever you are using to pick up the wireless signal.

1) someone moved a steel cabinet between you and the antenna.
2) one of the AccessPoints has died or been disconnected or been
stolen.
3) move your laptop to the other end of the building.
4) download some free WiFi analyzer SW and see all WiFi that is around
you.

WiFi Analytics inSSDIer is excellent.
Can get through http://www.ampedwireless.com/wifianalytics/ website.
It is not specific to any router or accesspoint and will give you all
kinds of good info. Works with 2.4 and 5GHz routers.

I have been to within 10 feet of the office, so range is probably not relevant.
