what do you mean by proof to substantiate? you must be mad to have
anything like this on public record. There are laws governing these things.

Either take my word or just ignore it and keep relying on these useless
reviews.

In that case you must be suffering from alzheimers or dementia. You are
very old after all so no surprise there.

You post a complete load of crap and you say *I'm* suffering?

It is not crap to warn you that you must be suffering from alzheimers or
dementia. Nobody needs a mirror to understand a simple one line
message. You must get yourself tested for senility or soon you will be
demented and become a burden to not only your loved ones but to the
society in general.

Unless of course, you are telling us that you already know your problems
and don't want to discuss it on public arena.

Why change a winning team? If you're happy with avast! (and the other
software), stick with it. I've been using avast! for years. The latest
version is a bit bloated, but you can choose to *not* install the
unnecessary "tools". I've also disabled the Mail Shield since it's
useless. The File System Shield should offer enough protection and my
ISP already scans my mail for viruses.

I only use the File System Shield in real time. I did use the Web Shield for
awhile but it felt like it was slowing down my browsing.
Besides, I run MBAM in real time and it does some web shielding.
I also run their Software Updater occasionally and it seems to work well.
The reason I was asking was similar to this situation.
"I am driving an old Chevy and am happy with it. Now someone offers me a
Corvette, hmmmm! Should I get it?"

Thanks,

Secunia PSI is way better.

The reason I was asking was similar to this situation.
"I am driving an old Chevy and am happy with it. Now someone offers me a

From what I've gathered from Norton you're being offered a Corvette with
engine problems. ;-)

It's a very effective technique.

I used to do a non-technical version of it on my girl friends.

I've stopped doing it recently, though, since the restraining orders.

Orders, plural. Nice. :-)

Although you could increase your credibility enormously by resorting to
citations of fact, rather than ad hominem remarks.

However, if occasionally resorting to cutting language is a sign of
encroaching senility, Char and I are among the at-risk contingent here.

Oh geez, how to I post this? Isn't there some sort of switch on the
monitor or something?

But you are a wife beater so stop your uninvited comments here. they are
not important to the majority of intelligent people here.

You are on record saying that:

"I've stopped doing it recently, though, since the restraining orders."

They should have locked you up and thrown away the keys but they made a mistake to not do this.

The fact is you can't understand a simple one line sentence without
using a mirror. what further facts do you need.

Seriously, you have got a serious problem. You better go and see your
local physician tomorrow because you may need urgent attention. You
can't even see the facts that are in front of you.

Geez. Serious problems here.

To me it has to be Norton or McAfee anytime. I am using McAfee because
it came bundled with my laptop and I got 3 years extension for £20 so I
took it.

It is the best Anti Virus product I have ever used. I have decided never
to use free versions ever again unless it is from Microsoft.

Microsoft discontinued their free version for XP when they discontinued XP
support.

So I looked for a new antivirus thingy and someone recommended a comparishon
site, whose location I now forget. I went there, and it reco0mmended Avira,
which seems to work.

Was it Virus Bulletin's site?
https://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/latest_comparative/index

AIUI, companies have to submit their products for testing, so they'd
better have faith in it. :-) I never saw MS Security Essentials rate
as high as I see people say it is. Even now the Microsoft entry is in
the back of the pack.

I don't think so. It was a site where you entered your systerm, the kind of
things you used your computer for and your level of expertise and it made a
recommendation.

Steve and Good Guy,

I'm not so sure you guys are right. Here's a quote from this Virus
Bulletin page, https://www.virusbtn.com/vbspam/methodology/index

"If you are interested in submitting your product for future test,
please contact for more details."

This doesn't sound like advertising or submitting system details and
getting a recommendation to me.

No, it wasn't that site that gave me the recommendation, I just can't remember
which one it was.

AV-Comparatives, maybe. Someone posted that site after I wrote the
reply above. I'd forgotten about the site.

I run Avast on my Win 7 laptop, but when Microsoft stopped supporting XP, I
ditched their security essentials on my desktop computer and looked for
another one. Someone told me about the site that would recomment, and I tried
it and got Avira.

I've got Avira Free on this Mac, and Avast Free on my Windows computer.
I'm getting tired of the Avast nag screens, and with Avira outscoring
Avast in the latest Virus Bulletin tests, I may switch if I get bored
enough.

Avast seemed to come up with a false positive the other day - a graphic on my
blog, which has been there for several years, but suddenly caused Avast to
bong and issue dire warnings.

Avira seems to get stuck occasionally.

Yes - you can't even figure out whose post you are responding to.

Certainly not mine. I don't recall the last time I posted about a
mirror... But if I ever did, it was not during this century.

You wanted facts as to why I told your sleeping partner why he needs to
get his health checked but the facts were in front of you.

Do you guys all of a sudden become senile as soon as you hit your 63rd
birthday? What's wrong with you lot?

Seriously, you all need to take up daily walking to get into shape
instead of sitting in front of your computers gazing at dead screens.

Duh...that was the point being made, without references or proof it's an
opinion(your word) and more worthy of disbelief and probably even less
credible than the reviews.
