Keyboard shortcut to toggle a dialog to fullscreen & how to get googles "cached content" back ?
Hello all,
Two questions: Does anyone know if there is a shortcut key to toggle a dialog window to fullscreen and back ? I know its ALT-ENTER for a console window (using it often enough :-) ), but a quick google doesn't show the same for run-of-the-mill dialogs (clicking the button in the upper-right works by the way). In relation to Google: Since a few days now I get search results back in a smartphone-friendly way (I'm on a desktop puter), but without any "cached content" links - which I find rather handy. Does anyone have an idea how to get the old-style (including those cached links) back ? Regards, Rudy Wieser |

If the window/box/whatever _can_ run full-screen, alt-space then X (use your left hand) to maximise, Alt-space then Enter to restore. This uses the little sub-menu that's been part of Windows (though moved around from time to time) since Windows 3.1, but a lot of people don't know it! I'm guessing you might have set a setting on your 'phone which sync has helpfully caused to transfer to all your devices. (I don't know if Chrome or other browsers have something like Sync. I've never turned on Sync - the convenience of sharing [mainly] bookmarks doesn't seem worth the risk of Something Wrong being helpfully copied to all my devices.) Regards, Rudy Wieser John -- J. P. John,
If the window/box/whatever _can_ run full-screen, alt-space then X (use your left hand) to maximise, Alt-space then Enter to restore. This uses the little sub-menu that's been part of Windows (though moved around from time to time) since Windows 3.1, but a lot of people don't know it! Grumble, grumble. I've been implementing an ALT-ENTER for the dialog, and am actually intercepting the WM_MENUCHAR event for it. during testing I /ofcourse/ saw that menu (which I was/am aware of - in the back of my mind) pop up a number of times. Didn't bother to actually /look/ at it as my focus was elsewhere. How's that for creating complex solutions while being oblivious for whats directly infront of you ? :-( :-) In relation to Google: Since a few days now I get search results back in a smartphone-friendly way .... Sorry, no. A thought: if you're using Firefox, do you have sync enabled? Yes I am, but no I haven't. Its one of the first things after installing I try to get rid of. No phone I would want that 'puter to be linked with. I also forgot to mention that at some point I could, when I got that smartphone-friendly display, get the old style back by closing the browser, opening it and doing another google. That stopped a day or two later. I've did take a peek at the URL's arguments, but did not find anything which gouverns this behaviour. I'm currently assuming that its a switch-over to a new format, like the localized search-results you now always get (and on that 'puter I seldom have any use for). Regards, Rudy Wieser |
