Maybe the latest DIVX (which is v6) www.divx.com) and XVID from

I use a lot of .avi files, if that's what you're talking about. I think what
you need is a codec to play the video (I had the same problem) go to http://www.cccp-project.net/ and download their codecs. they will work in media player and movie maker.
