Default anti-virus update problem

I have windows xp and norton system works 2004. I got
both at the same time and had no problems. Now i cant
update my virus definitions. In fact i cant go to any
symantec web site (not even tech support) I just get a
screen that says server not found. I have DSL and have
check all my active x and script settings (like the pop
up screen said to do). I have tries at every hour of the
day and night, triple checked my internet connection,
unloaded and reloaded nortons. Ive also downloaded all
micrsoft updates availible.I dont know of any other
setting to check, i dont know if ive been hijacked or if
its some kind of virus that wont let me go to symantecs.
Has any one heard of this?

You may have some sort of virus.
See if you can get to one of these:
Free online virus scans

Trend Micro - Free online virus Scan
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/hous...start_corp.asp

Panda ActiveScan - Free online scanner

BitDefender Free Online Virus Scan

Hope this helps. Let us know.

I had the same problem but solved it like this
I closed down all of the amti-virus files using task manager, i close down the following

ccApp.exe
ccEvtMgr.ece
ccSetMgr.exe
SAgent2.exe
symlcsvc.exe

then i ran the live update form the start button menu and this solved it
If that don't work then just say, best thing is close as much down using the task manager as you can
