data to DVD problemr

HI,

I have a Sony Pentium 4 computer with a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR 104 drive.

I am able to burn CD's fine.

I am able to burn movies/pictures to DVD fine.

What I cant do is burn data files to the DVD???

When I try to do it in Explorer, I get an error message saying I need to insert a writable CD into the drive.

I have a blank DVD-RW disc in the drive...but it wont recognize it?

Any ideas? ( Hardware? Software? )
