Default Garbage sent to Laserwriter if too many jobs: printer or desktop?

Have a HP laserwriter 5M printer here connected to a PC using
a usb-to-parallel cable. This setup has worked fine for the entire
last year even under heavy printing. A month ago the memory in the
computer was upgraded. Two weeks later we began to see an interesting
problem: if you print files one at a time, it works fine. But if you
print a bunch of jobs together, it will print pages with
stuff like

Error: undefined

OFFENDING COMMAND: 923

Stack: 2397

which probably means it is just garbage the PS processor in the
printer is trying to make sense out of. I connected the said printer
to my ubuntu laptop and just could not replicate the error, so I am
guessing the printer is ok. I also checked the Events and Errors page
in windows and saw there were a lot of events with ID 6004 around the
time these events happened; from what I understood, there might be a
driver issue or something like that. AFAIK, it has the latest XP
drivers for the said printer. Can anyone confirm my findings or,
perhaps offer more suggestions?

Try reinstalling the HP driver, or see if HP has an updated driver on their
site

In a few cases, adding memory to a desktop PC running XP resulted in
problems that were cleard by re-installing XP.
Something about how XP and installed apps configure for a given amount of
ram. The problem occurred when PCs with less than or equal to 1 Gig or RAM
was upgraded to 2 or more gig, and seemed to be related to the motherboard &
processor ombination. (usually older PCs, 3 or more years old.)
The printer spooling system was one of the problem areas.
