Default Avira versus Avast

These programs change over time, so this might not reflect their
current state...

I used to use AVG Free, but discontinued it a few years ago because it
seemed to be using too much system resources and was bogging my
computer down.

I used to use Avira Free, but at some point it's advertising became too
intrusive. I seem to recall that they backed down on that afterward,
but it was too late - I had dumped them by than.

I've been using Avast Free ever since. I think it does an adequate job
and it's nags were tenable, and it seemed to affect system performance
a bit less than the others. However, this year's version has ramped up
the advertising and removed any controls for reducing the frequency or
length of time the nag screens. I'm still putting up with the
annoyance, but it wouldn't take much more to get me to move.

AVG and Avira may be different now then when I last used them.
