DNS Failures
-----Original Message----- I have a desktop that refuses to resolve DNS names. I can ping any and all IPs inside or out of the LAN. Once I try to ping google.com or msn.com etc it fails. I've manually entered in the ip/subnet/gateway and along with the DNS servers. I've triple checked all settings including the advanced button, and compared with my PC right here, everything is the same (except for the IP of course). ping 216.239.51.100 works, but ping google.com doesn't, net view \\computername also works. I'm on a cable modem connected to a linksys 8-port router, every other PC works as usual except this one, I've even tried switching cables or trying different ports and NICs. Any ideas what might be conflicting with the DNS? Thanks . go to a command prompt and type nslookup then hit return and cut and paste the results here. |

DNS Failures
The info this url leads to fixed my problem. Seems XP caches DNS
addresses, and you have to reboot to clear the cache. This info helped me fix my DNS errors.
