I can get almost any game to run on XP, but I need more info.

What version of Zoo Tycoon?

Does your computer meet the minimum system requirements?

I'm sorry, but you do not have enough system memory. 256 MB today is very low. Windows needs some memory just to run. If you are going to upgrade your memory, get at least 1 GB.

1GB is nice but not necessary at all. I would be more comfortable
suggesting 512mb but without knowing what model laptop it is and what the
video adaptor is it is hard to give advice.

Well my daughter used to run Zoo Tycoon on a WinME machine that only had 256
MB of RAM she also had the expansion packs to go with it and ran them all
with no problems.

Please people!

"Well my daughter used to run Zoo Tycoon on a WinME machine that only
had 256 MB of RAM"

That was version 1.

"1GB is nice but not necessary at all. I would be more comfortable
suggesting 512mb"

Say, "I am not a gamer. I am not a gamer."

2 GB is standard for a gaming computer today.

WinME itself had a considerably smaller memory requirement than XP does and
there is less room to run programs than in ME. Although Zoo Tycoon should
run in 256mb that can depend on what is running in the background also. An
increase in memory never hurts anyway, if that is really the problem. One
way to check is to perform a clean boot and then try to run the program. A
clean boot reduces the number of running processes to just the basics.
