Reinstalled XP, but...
I formatted my hard drive and reinstalled XP onto my C:
drive, but now when I start-up the computer I get a screen that asks me to choose which XP Home edition operating system to use. Obviously, the old edition is not there and I can only choose the first. Is there a way to make the computer recognize only the new edition and not ask me each time I reboot? Just a little annoyance. Can you help? Thanks - |

Reinstalled XP, but...
Go to Start Run and type: MSCONFIG , and hit enter.
Click on the BOOT.INI tab and then click on "Check All Boot Paths" to delete incorrect boot paths. If the above does not work for you, then: Right-click MY COMPUTER and select: Properties Advanced Startup and Recovery Settings Edit CAREFULLY edit your boot.ini file to remove the SECOND entry. Your boot.ini file should then look similar to this: [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOW S [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows XP - Shell/User ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Landon" wrote in message: ... | I formatted my hard drive and reinstalled XP onto my C: | drive, but now when I start-up the computer I get a | screen that asks me to choose which XP Home edition | operating system to use.
