Windows insists that i insert my Windws XP disk in the cd-
rom while it copies files to my hard drive that have been
overwritten by unrecognised versions..is there a way to
get around this action or fix it altogether?, if i dont
leave Xp cd in the drive i get a pop-up that tells me my
system will be unstable if i dont conform to this
action.....what is going on?

If this is happening at each boot then I would suggest that you have picked
up a nasty virus. Use the Virus Checker of your choice to clean up the
system.

Hi,

Are you running SFC /SCANNOW with your XP CD and you have
already installed SP1?
If yes, it is normal. Press the retry radio button when it
pops up. You may need to press the retry button several
times till this process finished.
