Default Un installing Xp

-----Original Message-----
I loaded XP update for home use onto my pentium 3 I was
running ME prior to this. After loading XP when it booted
up all my desktop shortcuts were gone, my email address
was gone and none of my programs were loaded. I managed

to
load some programs but now I find that Norton AV 2002

will
not run and I cannot acces my CD or my burner as it does
not accept the drives as it says there is a conflict with
the system.
When I went to un istall XP there was nothing in the add
remove programs to do this with. I tried to do it in dos
but is says in cannot happen as certain registration
profiles are not there nor is the undo file.

How can I get rid of XP and return to my ME version. It
seems I have lost very valuable information off my pc. I
thought XP was supposed to be user friendly this is the
worst experience I have ever had..........Help.........
.

Xp *is* user-friendly, but the assumption is that the user
is not an idiot who can't follow the simple on-screen
prompts during the installation process.
