I'm hearing voices!!!

My computer is frequently in jukebox mode, so the
speakers are usually on. The trouble comes when I'm
signing off, changing programs, shutting down, etc, and
this voice yells out of the ether to give some salutation
or some other ridiculous announcement (usually to inform
me that its doing what I asked it to do in the first
place). My heart can't take anymore! I went into the
sounds section of Control Panel and turned off all the
beeps and whistles. But the voice remains. Can anyone
help me - or do I just need help?
