unable to copy any folders/files to cd disc drive.

Hi all,
I am unable to transfer any folders or files (including
my photo albums) to cd disc drive. Every time I go to My
docs/properties/general and untick read only button - the
read only reappears and prevents me from transfer.

Does anyone know of any hidden control that is preventing
me from unticking read only.

I run laptop with xp home edition
