Default internet explorer address bar

The address bar on internet explorer does not list web
addresses, it is just a box in within my task bar. How
can I change it?

Right click on the gray menu bar and check what you'd like to have show.

You need to right-click the tool bar and unlock it if it's locked. Next,
hover your pointer till you see a double-pointed arrow and drag down to make
it appear. Lock tool bar when you're done.

Reread the OP. Your response makes no sense.

Hi,

Are you saying that the address bar is not retaining history and/or you have
added the address bar to the task bar and it doesn't retain/show history?
If the latter, on first look the history is listed according to seek per
area, however they do draw upon each other.

If this is the case for you, check your settings he

IE/Tools/Internet Options/Content/AutoComplete/Web Addresses. If this is
not exactly what you were speaking of, post back with a better explanation.
