Default card reader problem

I have a new card reader which is compatable with USB 1 and 2. When I
insert an SD card it works fine on my laptop which has Vista Basic but
does not work on my desktop pc which has XP. Also it works fine on both
computers if I insert a compact flash card.

It may help to know what the XP's Device Manager shows
when the card reader is connected. We cannot yet locate
the problem is in generic XP driver for USB or something
specific to your card.

Hi - thanks for your reply. When I go into Device Manager and click on
"Generic USB SD reader USB device" then on "Properties" - the device
status says "this device is working properly"

It says SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller

Underneath this it has
USB Composite device
USB Mass storage device
USB Root Hub

I hope this is the right info.

Did you ever install a motherboard chipset driver? Check with the
maker of you PC or "motherboard" (refer to your manuals.)
