New window not always on top or active
Win7-32 Pro
When I start a program the window for that program often comes up below existing open windows rather than on top. Also, the new window often is not the active window, but has to be selected. Neither of these things happen all the time, just most of the time. They also do not both always happen to the same window. I can not discern any pattern to whether they happens or not. Any ideas? -dan z- -- Protect your civil rights! Let the politicians know how you feel. Any ideas? -dan z- Some applications force their windows to remain on top of any other window, even on top of windows launched later. Some of those "on top" applications have user-settable options to determine whether they remain on top. Windows Task Manager is one of those applications. -- David E. Fr instance, something that runs in the background may act passively. The other is that your actions will affect it. Back in the Win98 days Microsoft decided that there was too much lawlessness and stopped allowing programmers to push their windows to the top because the functionality was being misused. It's still possible to do with a hack, but in general it's considered bad manners to force anything. So if you're doing something when the window comes up it's likely there may be a flashing panel on the Taskbar, but the new window won't interrupt you. You might try opening the progam and not touching mouse or keyboard for a second or two while the new window opens. |
