Default wireless Irda link - can't send from Home XP SP2 to Win98se (should I be able to?) but can send other way?

I can't send a file from my Toshiba 5100 (Home XP SP2) to my toshiba 440cdt
(Win98se). Both machines recognize when the other is near and I can
successfully send from the Win98se laptop to the Home XP laptop - so it's
not a hardware problem.

If I try to send a file from the XP laptop to the Win98se laptop I get a
"Wireless Link Error" message box on the XP laptop saying Data was not sent
over the wirelss link as an error occured.

I talked to Toshiba. They said the Protocol may be different between XP and
Win98 such that they cannot communicate but the level 2 tech. was not too
sure.

Is this true? Or should I be able to send from the XP to Win98se? I find
it strange that I can send from the Win98se to the XP laptop fine.

Is there some special software I could install on the XP machine to allow
successful IRDA communication?

thanks
rj.
