Default Install HP PSC1200 without all the additional software

I have an HP PSC-1200 all-in-one printer on a home network, and want to
connect to it from one of the computers on the network. The thing is, I
just want to print across the network; I don't need to scan, nor do I
care about the ink levels.

How can I install this printer on my secondary PC without all of the
other software? I've seen that the main computer has about 6 files
running in the background for the printer, and I simply don't want
that.

TIA,

Jason

Go to the below website for just the drivers and/or any software that
you may want.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, all it had listed was the
all-in-one software for download (I didn't bother trying it because it
was 166MB, and I'm on dial-up, but at that size I doubt that it's just
a driver).

Any other suggestions? Seems like a major waste of resources to install
the whole thing just for a teeny driver.

You're not kidding 166Mb is quite a lot and is probably what you have
on the disk that came with the unit.
When you insert the PSC1200 installation disk it should give you the
option for a Full or Custom install. Select the Custom install then you
can just install the drivers and whatever else you select.
Do not connect the printer to your PC until you are prompted to do so
during the software/drivers installation and also when to turn it on.

You're right, that's the same file size as what's on the disk.

I'm afraid it don't give me any options at all, it just asks where I
want to install the software (default is C:/Program Files/HP
something). After you hit Next, it just says to click Finish to
install. So Custom install doesn't appear to be an option.

The printer is not actually on THIS computer, it's across a network.
I'm surprised if HP was short-sighted enough to not give the option to
install drivers without the software; it wouldn't even be possible to
use the scanner, ink monitor, etc over the network.

Thanks,

- J
