Then why did you install Windows Live Mail (and Windows Live Photo Gallery,
Windows Live Movie Maker, Windows Live Writer, Windows Live Toolbar, and Windows Live Family Safety?) when you installed Windows Live Messenger? Yes, the others should NOT have been pre-checked but you've gotta pay attention when you're installing anything. -- ~PA Bear www.banthecheck.com Jim Bunton wrote: When double clicking .eml files they used to open in Outlook Express. Dear C
Thanks for your response to my posting. Outlook Express Menu Bar Tools Options General Outlook Express is already the default Mail (and news) handler so it does perform these functions what I am doing is attempting to open files from the general file system (windows explorer) which I have previously saved there Jim Bunton "C" wrote in message ... Dear PA Bear
Thanks for responding to my posting. However, you will know that's it's not helpful. It's not, quite honestly, the sort of response I would have expected form a MS MVP. I think it's simply arrogant and ill mannered. I think if you take the trouble to mimic the installation process I went through it's not at all obvious that it's going to produce the result I have experienced. Ok - got it!
c:\program files\Windows Live\ Installer there's an exe programme called wlarp.exe double click it and it provides the facility to uninstall componants you don't really want. Works well - also removes settings it made to your firewall (without telling you!) when you do a restart after uninstall AND .eml files will now open in OutlookExpress fine (as before) Jim Bunton "Jim Bunton" wrote in message ...
