Default Microsoft Kernel Wave Audio Mixer

When I try to open Windows Media Player on my Windows XP
Professional computer/play other sound it tells me that I
have a speaker hardware problem. When I go to Device
Manager it informs me that the driver for "Microsoft
Kernel Wave Audio Mixer" is corrupted.

I have integrated sound (Intel 82801AA AC'97). I cannot
find a driver anywhere for "Microsoft Kernel Wave Audio
Mixer".

Any ideas?

Thanks
