Default RAS & Internet Gateway

Up until recently, on my XP-Home desktop, there was an entry in Network
Connections for my router as an Internet Gateway. There was also a 2nd
connection icon showing Internet traffic in my tray. I've installed a
Bluetooth USB dongle and configured my PC to accept an Incoming connection
using RAS. When I boot the PC the Internet Gateway icon appears and is busy
showing traffic. It will remain active up until I establish a connection
through the Incoming Connection (which I use it to Hotsync & surf the Web
with my Palm) then the Gateway goes away. It just cancels. It leaves the
tray and disappears from the Network Connections list. There are no error
messages. Everything still appears to work correctly, but I don't think this
is normal behavior and I'm worried about future pitfalls.

Can anybody shed some light on what's going on? Thanks.
