Default Networking XP & 2000, please please help?

This is what i have
Laptop WinXP wireless connection to home network, LAN to
broadband/cable modem
Desktop Win2000 with a USB wireless Lan

I have been able to link the two in a workgroup, works
fine!

But i want to share the internet connection, but when i
run the 'Network Setup Wizard' on XP it says an error
occured, u can config manually, how do i do this!

ive got the commanding x.x.x.x to work on both machines
but the net doesnt work on the client machine?

It would help so much
