BSOD Error 0x000000B8
Background information on Stop Error message
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms795832.aspx 0x000000B8: ATTEMPTED_SWITCH_FROM_DPC These are generally hardware issues (which often means driver issues). The articles given below are provided more as examples of the types of situations that trigger this error, rather than concrete solutions. As a rule, be sure you have the latest Service Pack edition of your Windows operating system and are using the best device drivers and software versions. After that, do normal hardware troubleshooting for the device inplicated. Source: http://aumha.org/a/stop.htm Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties, Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code? -- Hope this helps. BSOD Error 0x000000B8
Peter
My comments were made because we seem to have two problems, which may not be related. One which relates to the Stop Error report which White Wolf has linked to USBPORT.sys. The second has a Code 28 error but does not refer to a USB device. Your KB Article relates to a Code 28 error for a USB device. I cannot relate the Article to the problem. Inrepreting Dump reports is something I find very difficult. It would not surprise me if the cause of the BSOD is not usbport.sys but there you are. I think we may still be some way from resolving the problem White Wolf has. -- Regards. The OP now has all the info needed to fix his issue What are you talking about in this post and what is the following in your other post that you posted """This error is not being generated by a device attached to a USB port?"""" However, whilst this is fine for posting small amounts of information into newsgroup messages longer reports will irritate other newsgroup subscribers. Post copies of Physical Devices, PC Devices and Device Resources and someone may be able to spot what is wrong. -- Hope this helps. BSOD Error 0x000000B8
Unfortunatly I have not been able to update the Driver at all, I have the one installed that came with the sound card. For some reason everytime I try to update it using the auto update feature it says that there are no updates availible and when I download an update manually from the website it either says that the Windows version is not supported or there was no compatable hardware found. -- the white wolf ------------------------------------------------------------------------ the white wolf's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/the-white-wolf.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-x...rt/1073393.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
