Default connecting ibook via hub

Hi,
I have a ibook, a hub , pc on winxp and dsl ethernet modem. I am trying to
connect the ibook to internet via hub. What i did was connect PC to hub, dsl
modem to hub and then connect ibook through hub.
When I disconnect Ibook from the hub. I can connect pc to internet but when
ibook is connected to hub, both machine fails to connect to Internet. Ibook
never get connected to internet at all.
I am using PC with winxp
ibook loaded with OSX
Aztech ethernet modem (906eu)
Hub

a structured walkthrough would be helpful. I am a novice in home networking
stuff.

you said that you are using hub right; if you are using a hub then you'd need
an adittional ip address or you can just get yourself a router.

Look into a small home gateway/router device like a Linksys/Netgear. Ideally
with a built-in stateful inspection firewall, and an integrated network
switch. It will do NAT, DHCP and allow you to easily share the connection.

From a quick look, this isn't a gateway device designed for multiple
computers on your network to share the connection via NAT. Check w/the
manufacturer to be sure. I personally recommend the NetGear FR114P - about
$80 USD, and worth it - has a stateful inspection firewall in it.
