Some apps functioned as they would on a Windows while others as Mac

On a Windows machine one would normally scroll down on a context menu
and make the selection.
It took me while to figure out that with some applications one would
have to scroll down with the mouse depressed, then /release/ when one

Puppy is built with the USER in mind.
Most desktop linux distros are built with the developer in mind...all
zillion of them at cross purposes.



For years, I did volunteer work for a non-profit agency and often set up
lower end machines with Linux.

Since the users were not tech savvy, I would purposely do something
wrong, such as kill power...then see how the operating system reacted.

Initially I stayed away from Puppy Linux as it would generally not
automatically invoke fsck after a bad shut down...
it would attempt to mount a dirty file system and fail.


The more recent versions did not have that problems
and I could often let machines run for years without any type of
maintenance.

Interestingly I never gave anyone instructions on "how to use Linux"
I just set the machines up and left the room.


To repeat: These were totally unsophisticated users.


When I did have to perform a repair it was most often a hardware failure
and as far as the OS itself, about all I did was delete Windows crapware
that I found downloaded to the desktop.

froze after going to sleep and prevented Steam from working at all after
