For whatever reason, it doesn't see my RAID and forces me to use my two SSDs as separate drives rather than just one. I have had a problem with Red Hat discontinuing support for a RAID controller that was admittedly 15 years old. What raid controller are you using? I have had good luck with RSTe on C2xx chipsets. |

BTW, Windows 10 is more of a store than an operating system. Be prepared to pay rent soon. Chuckle. Can't disagree with that. |

Linux is like a Chrysler car; if it is anywhere near something better, it breaks down and leaves you stranded on the highway. I remember those days. My dad owned an auto parts store. Chrysler owners had to bring their old parts in to compare. That said, I have been a Linux shop for over 15 years. It has its problems, but not as you describe. So there is an interesting mystery to solve! What processor and chipset are you using? Did you try with a Live DVD/USB first? What distro did you try with? |

I certainly fooled around with antique computers for many years and just today I found that there are folks working on improved browsers for operating systems as old as NT 3.51 etc http://toastytech.com/files/95browsing.html Yes...OT....but at least it's Windows-related |

As to NT3.51 I never used it other than for demonstration purposes on one of my antique machines. For the little I saw of it, it worked fine...the older NT 3.1 which I also fooled with ...locked up often. As to NT-4...I did not want to leave it, but the USB support of Win-2000 forced me to abandon it. |

Of all the Windows, NT 4 was just boiler plate. If I am not mistaken, that was the doing of a bunch of VAX programmers. USB 1 was a stinker. USB 2 cleaned a lot of stuff up. USB 3 I do like, but have come across things that don't work with it, such as APC's data cable. I like 3 because I don't have to worry about self powered USB 2 devices burning out the port. Sometimes keyboards and mice are not recognized by Windows until you install their drivers: depends on the chipset |

I did not use my computer for much until I decided to get a digital camera in 2000. The serial data transfer did not cut it, so I initially went to Win98 for USB-1 . That was better than serial of course, but the machine would occasionally BSOD, even if I properly disconnected, No problem after I gave Win2000 a try. The large bank is of forklift batteries and chargers. My own little battery bank is sufficient however, so that if I were doing a drive clone or something time consuming, I could just laugh if there was a power failure. |

And for those annoyed by Mozilla, there is also Ice Weasel Iceweasel is a fork [from Firefox] with the following purpose : 1. backporting of security fixes to declared Debian stable version. 2. no inclusion of trademarked Mozilla artwork (because of #1 above) IceWeasel is a web browser for Linux. How is that going to work under ReactOS which is an attempt at Windows binary compatibility and not an attempt to be another Linux kernel variant. |
