Black Monitor
What happens is... When I reboot I get the splash screen, bios screen and
then Windows boot screen. Once windows is running the monitor goes black, green light on meaning I have a signal. Unplug monitor it says no signal. Reboot and unplug monitor and after beep, plug in and beautiful picture. Monitor is Compaq MV740, Vid. Card EVGA FX5200 latest drivers, Mobo Biostar m7ncd. Swapped monitor Sony/Dell p990 same; Swapped Vid. Gainward GE4 Ti4200 same. I'm at my wits end it has been this way for quite awhile. |

And what happens when you boot up to safe mode?
If the screen comes 'good' then uninstall the monitor and video adapter and reboot: allow Windows to autodetect on boot up and install the correct drivers. "Tsarscott" wrote: What happens is... It will work OK with default drivers. Any time I install new drivers it does
the same old thing. "Tsarscott" wrote: It will boot in safe mode, bckgrnd is black, but I can see my diff. windows. You need to install the CORRECT new drivers. Use card manufacturers web
site, NOT windows update! Tsarscott wrote: It will work OK with default drivers. Any time I install new drivers it does the same old thing. I've tried the drivers from EVGA and from Nvidia. I've even gone back into
the archives and tried older versions. "Bob I" wrote: You need to install the CORRECT new drivers. Use card manufacturers web site, NOT windows update! That's a puzzler! How about what is windows showing in Device Manager
for a monitor? Delete any non-plug and play. Tsarscott wrote: I've tried the drivers from EVGA and from Nvidia. I've even gone back into the archives and tried older versions.
