Format and Fresh install
Hi everyone
I just bought a second hand laptop, and would like to format the hard drive and install a fresh copy of windows XP prof. How do i do this? I tried just inserting the windows cd and doing a fresh install, however it would not install on to the hard drive because "the selected partition contains another operating system" (old windows) Any ideas? |

When it gets tot he point where it asks you which partition to install on..... DELETE the partition, create a NEW partition.. COntinue with install. -- - Shenan - -- The information is provided "as is", it is suggested you research for yourself before you take any advice - you are the one ultimately responsible for your actions/problems/solutions. Format and Fresh install
Keep your eyes open during the install initial screens; there is
a point where it will let you tell it to ignore everything and install to C. Unfortunately, I can't remember exactly where it is. That's also the reason a lot of people end up installing on D instead of C: they missed the point where it was controllable.
