Default No updates for Stinger

As recommended earlier in this NG, I downloaded and ran the Stinger
anti-virus/trojan (I already have AVG). But it (Stinger) does not have an
update feature. Does that mean that it should be deleted after use and not
be kept in my download files, and do a fresh download everytime it has to be
used?
TIA

Ben;
Stinger is not intended as an anti virus replacement.
Stinger is intended to be used to eradicate specific problems on the
computer.
There is no need for regular use of stinger.
If stinger is needed again, it is best to download the latest version at
that time.
If you keep Stinger available, you should verify you have the latest version
before use.

I keep the file on hand (and a copy on CD) until I download a new one. If
by any chance I can't get online to get the newer version, I at least have
the old one on hand. Keep in mind that Stinger is a compact tool. It only
detects and cleans about 30 or so of the currently prevalent viruses and
worms. It is not a substitute for full fledged virus protection.

... in addition, aČ( A squared ) has a free malware (trojans, worms,

Hi Mow,

What's a throw away spam trap? Sounds like something I could use.

Thanks, Dan

Dan;
Create a free account from Hotmail or one of the others.
Use that account for anything that needs an Email and may cause spam.

So you can go all around the world making millions of stops in a single
night - but you miss something as obvious as "spam trap address"?

Sure - your main email account may not have spam, and no one is saying you
should sign-up and chance it - but you could create a free email address on
dozens of different servers and use that to sign up and try new things..
Check that email when necessary (via a web browser most likely) and delete
everything or go through it - up to you.. But why hold yourself back from
trying new things?

That statement is entirely false.. I have many tried out many "legitmate"
software packages from reputable software companies (Microsoft.. Symantec..
Adobe.. so on) and some of the trials have, in fact, required a valid email
address to download the software.

And Beside .. with My ISP I have 7 e-mail accounts I could setup and
Delete At will!! No need For YAHOO or HOTMAIL..

Fantastic - less reason for you to be concerned. I get the same thing with
my ISP.. But I also have other accounts.. gmail, hotmail, hushmail and a few
others. And the great thing about the free ones - technically the
information I provided them may be entirely false and thus have NO
association with myself!

Most Users Never Relize Where All Their Junk/ Viagra/ Spam/ Sender
Get Their e-mails From!!

Very true - many get them from posting their valid email addresses in
newsgroups such as these. Some get them from signing up for services - many
services are valid and the user fails to read the privacy statement of the
company they are giving their email address to.

However - to deny a potential software solution trial due to some paranoia
about getting spam (when you could use false information to sign up) seems
ludicrous to me.
