Dial-Up Password double-posted in "Remember Password"?
I set up a computer with Win XP Home Edition to use a DUN
account for dialing out to the Internet, via Outlook Express and IE 6. I used the "Remember Password" option during the setup. When I launch one of those two apps, the DUN popup appears, but with the password (starred out, of course) apparently being repeated twice in the password box. In other words, if I entered a six-character password in the DUN setup wizard, the DUN popup shows a 12- character password. I used the dial-up wizard for the initial setup, launched by right-clicking on the IE icon, selecting Properties, then the Connections tab, then the Setup button. Are there any parameters in Win XP that might cause the password to be entered twice in the DUN popup? Thanks in advance. |

Just log in normally ignoring the extra characters. It is a security feature
to keep other from guessing your password. ________________ Eric Cross, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) "Perpetually_Puzzled" wrote in message ... Will it not connect? Many programs now that save passwords will change the
length when it is saved for security reasons so a person could not have help guessing a password by already knowing how long the password is. As long as the DUN connects I would not worry about it.
