Where is print queue?
One of the most infuriating things about W7 is the fact that USB
printers don't appear in the Devices and Printers folder, which means that there doesn't appear to be an easy way to change settings--OR to access the print queue. Right now I have dozens of pages in my queue that I don't want to print, but I can't get rid of them. Ed Bott's 40 pound book offers no clues. Can anyone help? ZAllen

Hi, Allen.
My only printer is an HP 8500A Multifunction model. It has both USB and wireless connections; I'm using it wirelessly. But it only recently replaced my 10-year-old HP OfficeJet G55, which was connected by USB. It always showed up in Devices and Printers in Win7. What is your printer make and model? Do you have current drivers installed? Are you SURE you have it connected properly? RC -- R. C. You need to search hard and if necessary get a magnifying glass to help you out! So does "switched to W7" mean you upgraded from a prior version to 7 or does it mean you did a fresh install? Having the driver available in Windows doesn't mean all setup is correct or even that the ancilliary software will work. So have you yet uninstalled the printer and then reinstalled the driver & software for the printer (which says it supports Windows 7)?

I have reinstalled current software several times for both of my printers. Both have worked OK, but neither one has ever appeared in the D&P folder. Allen

My USB connected Canon MP560 printer is listed in both "StartSettingsPrinters" and "StartSettingsControl PanelDevices and Printers." Cheers, When I go to Devices and Printers the image that appears is completely, totally blank--nothing, nada; like a greatly overexposed picture of a snowbank at high noon. The image you sent is what I used to see in Vista. I appreciate your help, but surely I'm not the only person with this problem, as I did nothing out o the ordinary when I installed W7--I just let the intaller find my two USB printers. Allen

Allen That doesn't sound like you are looking at Device Manager at all. Do Start, right-click on Computer and choose "Manage". Give the Administrator credentials if asked. Then in the L/H pane under System Tools click on Device Manager. THAT'S Device Manager!
