Default am I supposed to have two different "messenger" programs?

I don't need to use Windows Messenger because I am not bombarded even if i
get pop-ups.

out how to make Windows Messenger log-in everytime i re-boot, msn messenger
has this option, but Windows Messengere does not, which is strange.

connected to internet.
