Default windows live messenger

sorry to repost, but forgot to mension that I am using windows XP home
edition and IE 7, IE 8 slowed my computer down too much so uninstalled it. Is
widows live messenger only for Vista users, as stated before I do not have or
want a hotmail account, only want to use the chat once in awhile.

Windows live messenger can be installed on XP as well, with just the
Messenger function installed. http://download.live.com/SystemRequirements
