Default Attempted fresh install

Figured I'd try and update an Averatec 6100 laptop to Win7 from the XP
it came with. Install went well and then came time to install drivers.

Oh boy what fun!!! Not one of the video, audio network or wireless
drivers was easily found and in fact gave up trying to even find a
wireless driver. This is even though I wrote down their names as given
in XP's device manager.

However the worst part was a lack of an appropriate ATI driver for the
Moblity 6100 embedded video card so it was stuck in VGA mode. It's
almost like it doesn't exist on AMD's site except Update Catalog has
some update for it, none of which will install giving a missing file
error message but doesn't tell you what the actual file is ... typical
Windows BS!!! I did get a driver to install after numerous failed
attempts but it'd BSOD randomly and always upon shutdown.

I gave up and reverted back to the original XP on the laptop given I
have original install disks laptop was that old it came with them!!!

How about:

https://www.catalog.update.microsoft...ti+radeon+9600

That's the only breadcrumb I could find.
