Default "No Audio Device"??

When I get into a song from RealPlayer, it says "Cannot open the audio
device. Another program may be using it."(i've gone to task manager and
another program isnt using it).

So I went to dxdiag and the troubleshooting for sound and it eventually led
me to Sounds and Audio Devices. It said "No Audio Device"! What should I do?

(I have a ESS Allegro sound card)

Is your sound card listed in Device Manager under Sound, Video, Game
Controllers?

Your may require to reinstall your sound card drivers.

Default "No Audio Device"??

I just submitted a question on this very subject. I have the same problem.
Except that mine surfaced only once I installed xp pro (xp home could see
the driver fine). My problem is made worse by the fact that Intel does not
have downloads available for my audio driver. Rather annoying that xp pro
does not have a driver that xp home does....!

At this point, I am thinking of contacting the manufacturer and see if they
can help. Otherwise, am I looking at having to buy a new sound card?

Any thoughts welcome.

Contacting the manufacturer of your mainboard / soundcard via phone, email,
website driver download/support page should be your FIRST step.
